Merit Ownership Announcement



As a market leader, Merit continues to improve our operating structure while providing our customers and communities exceptional value. With the start of the new year, we are pleased to share with you organizational changes and strategy initiatives in motion.


Jeremy Wohlfiel, Project Manager, and Laura Sheehan, Inspection Manager, have both assumed minority ownership in Merit Contracting.


Jeremy has a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management from North Dakota State University. Upon graduation, his career with Merit began, most recently celebrating 10 years! With his experience, Jeremy has demonstrated exceptional leadership through expansion and execution of roofing capacity, in addition to building a safe work culture. Jeremy has continued his education through the Future Executives Institute as part of the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and has served as past chair for the Builders Exchange of Rochester as well as ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­holding a seat on the Board of Directors through Rochester Area Builders. Jeremy has a passion for his employees, customers, and the construction industry as a whole. His focus will continue in the Commercial Roofing portion of our portfolio.


Laura has a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Laura delivers Merit quality always. She has been instrumental in establishing the Asset Management department allowing Merit to build stronger and more transparent relationships with customers and clients. Laura has been actively involved since 2016 in National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) starting as a member and most currently serving as Immediate Past President of the Southeast Minnesota chapter. Laura is also active in National Women in Roofing (NWiR). Laura will remain focused on Asset Management and demand shaping which allows Merit to partner with the best customers on the best projects.


Ed Stanley will remain majority owner and operator of Merit Contracting and has no immediate plans for retirement.
