In Memory of Richard 'Dick' Stanley

Our hearts at Merit Contracting are heavy today – Merit’s founder, Richard (Dick) Stanley passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12th.

Dick began working in the roofing industry after serving in the US Navy Reserves. In 1981 Dick established Merit Contracting in Rochester, MN. Dick derived a sense of pride from both the individuals affiliated with Merit and the work stamped with Merit quality. In 1996 Merit Contracting was sold to the next generation, Ed and Mark Stanley. Dick remained involved in the construction industry and was impressed by the technological advancements made in roofing during his lifetime, particularly the ability to measure a roof from an office without a tape measure.

Today, Dick's legacy lives on at Merit through the company's commitment to providing high-quality products and services to the Rochester and surrounding communities, as well as through its charitable contributions.
