Sheet Metal Installer

We are currently looking for Sheet Metal Installers to join our team. We mainly work in Rochester but do travel to surrounding areas and Iowa. We return to the shop daily.
 

Job description:

Under supervision, the individual will perform a variety of duties relating to:

  • Plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal parts and products

  • Operates in a team environment to achieve department goals in productivity.

  • Utilizes knowledge of working characteristics of metallic materials, machining and layout techniques using hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment.

  • Responsible for proper completion of production related paperwork.

  • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product installing sheet metal products.

  • Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material, using scribers, dividers, squares, and rulers while applying knowledge of shop mathematics and layout techniques to develop and trace patterns of product or parts.

  • Set up and operate a roll former.

  • Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff and smooth surfaces using hand tools and portable power tools.

  • Solder, rivet, bolt, screw, clip, caulk and bond component parts to assemble products using hand tools, power tools and equipment.

  • Other Duties may be assigned.


Qualifications:

  • The ability to climb and descend a 40 foot extension type ladder unassisted; the ability to work at heights in excess of 10 feet.

  • The ability to repeatedly lift and move sheet metal such as sliding, and lifting sheets of metal weighing approximately 75 pounds each.

  • The ability to cut, hammer, fasten, and otherwise work with roofing materials.

  • The ability to work in a variety of physical positions:including stooping, squatting, kneeling and crawling.Extensive use of arms and shoulders, gripping and safe use of small and large hand power tools.

  • The ability to perform basic math functions

  • The ability to communicate effectively and follow written or verbal instructions and safety rules.

  • The ability to work in a variety of outdoor weather conditions throughout the year, including but not limited to, excessive heat or cold.
