Roofing & Building enclosure Inspector

The Inspector will independently perform and manage a variety of duties relating to the function of the Inspection/Asset Management Program and Quality Control.

This position will directly report to the Inspection Manager. There will be frequent interaction with Inspection Manager, Service Manager, Project Managers, as well as regular interaction with office personnel.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

The Inspector must be able to perform work duties as assigned and have a practical understanding of the following responsibilities and tasks. Those duties include the following, but are not limited to:

 

  • Asset Management Roof Inspections, Glazing Inspections, Wall Inspections, Quality Control Inspections, Manufacturer’s Roof Inspections, etc.

  • Review plans, specifications, and manufacturers’ details to verify proper installation and quality control

  • Perform testing and sample collection of construction materials using devices and test equipment

  • Keep daily logs, including photographs taken during inspections

  • Provide written documentation of findings

  • Prepare cost estimates for repairs

  • Complete leak investigative work, using problem solving methods and independent decision-making tools

  • Client/customer communication

  • Regular travel in and around Southeast Minnesota and surrounding areas

Requirements

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree from a four-year College or University- Construction related program or Associates degree from a trade program or technical college or equivalent construction work experience; 3-5 years of roofing experience including service, building enclosures, glazing, and walls

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, database, spreadsheet and word processing software

  • Strong problem-solving skills and independent decision making

  • Ability to work safely always while multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Considerable ability to communicate effectively, written and oral

  • Customer service minded with the ability to build interpersonal relationships

  • Effective time management and prioritization of daily, weekly, and monthly tasks

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Registered Roof Observer® within 12 months of hire

  • Licensed Asbestos Inspector –within 12 months of hire

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with low-slope roofing (3-5 years minimum)

  • Knowledge and application of manufacturer’s details and specifications

  • Advanced knowledge of multiple computer systems and databases including but not limited to AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Sage 100, etc.

  • Registered Roof Observer®

  • Licensed Asbestos Inspector

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work and perform what would be considered standard practices for this type of position in the industry including but not limited to the following:

  • Ability to lift minimum of 50 pounds regularly

  • Ability to walk, stoop, kneel, crawl, reach, carry, and climb frequently

  • Ability to move throughout tightly enclosed areas

  • Ability to climb ladders, move about scaffolding, and/or operate construction lifts

  • Please note at times this job can be physically demanding and involves interior and exterior work in all weather conditions and during all hours of the day and evening.
